National Conference Centre
I was in Ghana for nearly four weeks doing voluntary work. The National Conference Centre is one place I will never forget.
I was working with an N.G.O where we travel all over Ghana, targeting the small villages, and educating them about H.I.V Aids.
Basically, my colleagues and I will go to the primary schools/high schools, community centers and various groups to educate them about this dreadful disease and it its adverse effects.
During my second week in Ghana, we came to Pokuase, a small town 20mins from downtown Accra. On the Saturday night of that weekend, my boss invited all of us to the 2007 Ghana Music Awards show at the National Conference Center.
The show was great with a lot of Ghanaian rappers. In fact, I was very impressed with how far the rappers have gotten to, because little did I know African music could be modified to that level. I will say kudos to them.
There were other performers from all music types and some from other countries like Nigeria. Overall, it was a beautiful night in Accra.
I took a photo of the Conference Building next day when we drove past it to have lunch at Osu Oxford street.
I love Ghana so much because the people over there are very nice. Its just unbelievable how some people can be nice to strangers. The population is diversified and I would say Ghana is improving every single day.
I'm planning my second visit next year summer during the World Cup season, but this time with my wife and kids.
Thanks for having me here.
Memphis.
